Scripture for Grief and Loss
Grief is the cost of love, and Scripture does not rush you past it. These passages speak of a God who is near to the brokenhearted and a hope that holds sorrow inside a larger story.

Practical Guidance
Scripture does not treat a broken heart as a sign that God is distant. The opposite is stated plainly: the Lord is near to the brokenhearted. Grief is not something to hide from Him or hurry past; He draws close to it. You are allowed to mourn at the pace your heart requires.
We were never meant to grieve alone. The community of faith is given to one another as hands and feet of comfort, so that the comfort we receive from God can spill over to others. Reaching out — even quietly, even imperfectly — is not weakness but wisdom.
Christian hope does not deny grief; it sets grief inside a larger certainty. One day every tear will be wiped away. Until then, we honor what we have lost without being consumed by it, trusting that our mourning is held by a God who Himself wept.
A Prayer
Lord, you are near to the brokenhearted. Draw close to me in my sorrow. I do not ask you to rush me — only to stay with me. Comfort me as only you can, and in time, let this loss be held inside your greater hope. Amen.
